CCI CBT Training Video Still We have developed a number of videos to demonstrate the use of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) strategies. These videos are designed solely for educational purposes, to supplement the professional development and training needs of qualified mental health professionals. They are not a substitute for CBT training and supervision, and are not designed to be treatment tools for use by, or with, clients.

Click the links below to view the demonstration videos.

  • Explaining the Vicious Cycle of Depression - In this video, we illustrate an example of how the vicious cycle of depression can be explained to a client.
  • Reversing the Vicious Cycle of Depression - In this video, we describe how we can reverse the vicious cycle of depression to a client. We encourage you to watch the preceding video on "Explaining the Vicious Cycle of Depression" before you watch this video.
  • Explaining the Vicious Cycle of Anxiety - In this video, we illustrate an example of how the vicious cycle of anxiety can be explained to a client.
  • Reversing the Vicious Cycle of Anxiety - In this video, we describe how we can reverse the vicious cycle of anxiety to a client. We encourage you to watch the preceding video on "Explaining the Vicious Cycle of Anxiety" before you watch this video.
  • Working Through a Thought Diary - In this video, we illustrate an example of working through the process of identifying negative automatic thoughts, and of cognitive disputation.
  • Behavioural Activation Part I - This video is the first of a three-part series on Behavioural Activation. Part I illustrates how weekly activity monitoring can be introduced and set up for homework with a client.
  • Behavioural Activation Part II - This video is the second of a three-part series on Behavioural Activation. Following on from Part I which introduces weekly activity monitoring as a homework task, Part II illustrates a way of reviewing the weekly activity monitoring with a client.
  • Behavioural Activation Part III - This video is the final segment of a three-part series on Behavioural Activation. After introducing (Part I) and reviewing (Part II) weekly activity monitoring, Part III introduces behavioural activation to the client. We demonstrate some ways of working collaboratively with the client to identify behavioural activation tasks for homework, and also discuss the "Action before motivation" principle.
  • Developing a Behavioural Experiment - In this video, we illustrate an example of a therapist and client collaboratively developing a behavioural experiment aimed at testing negative predictions about a situation.

You can find and subscribe to the CCI YouTube channel here.

  • We have developed some clinician reflection exercises as a companion to these demonstration videos. Engaging in these reflection exercises will help you to maximise your learning, and can help prepare you to use the demonstrated principles in your own work.
